Joan is a passionate teacher who inspires creativity, curiosity, and dedication to craft. Her actors have been nominated for and won Tony Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critic’s Choice Awards, and Emmy awards.
Joan has clients starring in almost every currently running show on Broadway: & Juliet, Six, Wicked, Book of Mormon, MJ, Funny Girl, Here Lies Love. Joan was hired to coach on Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill (three Tony Nominations), Misery (starring Bruce Willis and Laurie Metcalf), An American in Paris (starring Robbie Fairchild and Leanne Cope), Waitress (starring Sarah Bareilles), which resulted in Tony Nominations for the actors she coached.
Joan was recently hired by Netflix to work on 1899, Kaleidoscope, Jigsaw and by Warner Brothers to work on AJ and the Queen (starring RuPaul) and Wu Tang: An American Saga. She coached actors in White Lotus (SAG Award, Emmy Nomination), Physical, Chippendales, Missing, Pachinko Godzilla, A Jazzman’s Blues, Hightown, FBI Most wanted, FBI International, Mare of Eastown, Honor Society, Echoes, The L word, Sex Lives of College Girls, Turner and Hooch, Give me pity, Pachinko, Dr. Death, Bull, Partner Track.
Joan has taught acting at Barnard College and Ensemble Studio Theater. She taught workshops at Rutgers University, Oakland University, and Harvard Divinity School. She taught in public schools throughout the five boroughs through Lincoln Center Institute and in homeless shelters and hospitals through Creative Alternatives.
As an actress, Joan can be seen on all the Law and Orders, Sex and the City, Johnny Zero, Conviction. She performed at the Roundabout Theater, Signature Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, Geva Theater, Pioneer Theater, and Triad Theater.
